Important Boater Safety Message River flow in the Clark Fork River is rising rapidly and will soon be spilling over the crest of the Thompson Falls Dam. NorthWestern Energy strongly recommends that boaters do not use Thompson Falls Reservoir until spring runoff is over and river flow drops below 24,000 cfs, which usually occurs about July 1. Boaters are reminded that boating on the reservoir between the dam and a point 1020' above the dam is prohibited year-round, by order of the Fish, Wildlife and Parks Commission. Boaters are cautioned that the boat restraint, which is located at the closure location during the summer, has been removed until river flow subsides because of large debris floating downriver.
