I 90 Eastbound Quartz Flat Rest Area to close temporarily The Montana Department of Transportation (MDT) will be temporarily closing the I 90 eastbound Quartz Flat Rest Area between Superior and Alberton starting Monday, September 26. MDT will be redeveloping the well that supplies water to this rest area due to excessive amounts of sand in the current well. Although the water has been safe to drink and use, over time the sand will reduce the service life of the rest area's water system.
